We value our relationship with you and we strive to maintain your trust and confidence. Safeguarding the privacy of your personal information is important to our relationship. Accordingly, it is our policy not to disclose your personal information to anyone unless it is required by law, at your direction, or necessary for us to provide you with our services. We will not sell your personal information to anyone.
Information We Collect
Our policy is to collect only the information we need to complete our advisory obligation to you. The information we collect will vary depending on the type of advisory service we're providing. Examples of the information we might collect about you and your family members include social security number(s), birth date(s), investment and bank accounts, insurance coverage and health status.
How We Handle Your Personal Information
Any of our employees may be engaged in providing services to you and will need information to complete their work. Therefore, we do not restrict their access to your information in our offices. Each employee must sign a confidentiality policy statement that requires them to abide by our firm's policies. Employees are not permitted to remove information about you from our offices.
We will share information between spouses unless you tell us not to. For example, we will share your financial planning, tax, IRA and 401(k) information with your spouse.
Your information may be shared with outside parties such as federal regulators, brokerage firms where trading orders are placed on your behalf, your accountants, your insurance agents or your realtor. We require that outside parties not disclose information about you.
We maintain a secure office and computer environment including a monitored security alarm with access codes, motion detectors, computer firewall, and computer tape backups.
Your personal information will be maintained during the time you are a client and for the required time thereafter. The retention periods are set by federal and state securities laws and BWFA's Code of Ethics as found in our Policies and Procedures Manual. When the retention period ends, we destroy the records by shredding.
