BWFA Encrypted Email Message Center

BWFA Secure Message Center

FAQs

Why use encrypted communications for confidential information?
BWFA takes the privacy of client information very seriously. We have engaged ZixCorp, a provider of advanced encryption software, to help us securely deliver email communications that contain confidential information. The service enables our staff, our financial custodian, and our clients to send and receive encrypted email with the assurance of a high level of security.

How does it work?
When a BWFA staff member emails you confidential information, the email message and all attachments are encrypted and held in BWFA's secure Message Center. You will receive notice by email that a confidential message from BWFA awaits you. You click the "Open Message" button, log on to BWFA's secure Message Center, and retrieve the confidential email. If desired, you may also securely reply to BWFA's email.

What should I do the first time I receive an encrypted message from BWFA?
When a BWFA staff member sends you an encrypted email containing confidential information, you will receive an email notice from BWFA. The notice will instruct you to log on to BWFA's secure Message Center and choose a password. You will use your chosen password for all future visits to the Message Center, so be sure to choose a password you will remember. After creating your password, you will be able to view the secure message.

How long will secure messages remain in the Message Center?
You should access messages promptly, as all encrypted communications from BWFA will expire and be deleted in 30 days.

How can I initiate a secure message to BWFA?
In order to initiate a secure message to a BWFA staff member, click here. Log into your account by entering your email address and password, and then select "compose." Your message, along with any attachments, will be encrypted.

What if I don't receive notice of an encrypted message that I'm expecting from BWFA?
Check your SPAM folder. Certain email providers may incorrectly identify notices of encrypted messages as SPAM. If you don't find the notice in your SPAM folder, contact BWFA.
